The devastation is just like a 3rd World disaster. I spent a week in New Orleans a few years ago during a convention of the American Psychological Association. It is hard to imagine that Bourbon Street no longer exists as it was. Look at the people being rescued and yet unrescued. They are all blacks and some poor whites. The wealthy all fled the city before the hurricane came in. The poor could not. Bush did not mobilize aid before the tragedy which was obvious was sure to come. Why? The poor and the blacks do not vote republican. The city is built 20 feet BELOW sea-level. Aid for the Tsunami in Asian arrived much faster almost instantly. Why? Remember the resort places in remote islands filled with rich white tourists?During situation like the one in New Orleans the National Guard is mobilized instantly and they provide security and aid. Where are they? Days of promisses came way before the few units of the National Guard arrived. They're mostly busy in Iraq.Gas prices are at an all time high. Over 3 dollars per gallon. Berry hopes it goes up to $8. The poor unfortunately will suffer but people need to realize that the Oil and gas industry run this country. And dependence on Oil is costly. Every body in Bush admisnitration is either from the Oil companies or Gas industry. Oil and Gas are finate resources and the US is 70% dependent on foreign oil. Bush family (oill industry) is cozy with the Saudis: you scratch my back and I will scratch yours. EVERYBODY with smarts said: JUST Before national election oil prices will go down and after election prices will go up. It happened. And we pay. Iraq is all about oil. The invasion was planned BEFORE Bush won the election by the Bush people and republicans. Extracting oil and gas ruin the land and polute the air. There is no future for the generations to come 30 years from now. Bush said: "I don't care what history will think of me, I will be dead." The technology for hybrid cars and cars that do not run on gas at all is HERE, now, today. We have it. What is the American car manuctures doing. Nothing. 10 years from now all hybrid cars or cars that do not run on gas will be made in Asia or Europe. And the American car industry will die. California right now has legislation prohybiting cars that run only on gas a few years from now. This is just the beginning.Invasion of Iraq was for oil? Where is it? :-))) The mess still there is keeping the oil from flowing and tax payers are paying for the billions this senseless war is costing. People now are getting mad at Bush. Too bad, too late. As we say here: "They made their beds, now they can lay on them."
